In Laos, coffee production is centred on the Bolaven Plateau, a fertile highland region known for its volcanic soils, consistent rainfall, and cooler temperatures. These conditions create an ideal environment for growing Arabica coffee, particularly at moderate altitudes with well-defined wet and dry seasons. In recent years, a focus on quality-driven farming and improved processing—especially washed methods—has elevated Laos as an emerging origin with increasing recognition for clean, wellstructured coffees.
Laos washed coffees are typically clean and balanced, offering a medium body, gentle acidity, and notes of citrus, light florals, and soft caramel sweetness. The washed process highlights clarity and brightness, resulting in a refined, easy-drinking cup that works well both as a single origin and as a component in blends.
